Easing up on gas when automatic transmission changes gears 850

I noticed that there is quite a kick when the gears change, if I'm using sport mode and accelerating hard. Then I noticed that it wasn't kicking anymore. I realized that it was because I was easing up on the gas just before the shift change. (This is my first car with automatic transmission, the other two had standard transmission.)

I was wondering if this is bad for the transmission, easier on the transmission, or doesn't make any difference to the transmission.
