Hello,
I own a 1993 850 with 114,000 miles on it. About this time of the year (October), and only in the colder months of the year, my front drivers-side tire emits a high pitched whining noise while driving. It'll start around 5-7 mph, whine consistently while driving, and then stop when the car comes to a stop. If I drive faster than 55-60 mph, the squeal is no longer audible (perhaps due to wind noise).
I never hear the squeal during the summer months. I have taken the car into my mechanic who loaned me a pair of new brake pads which did not remedy the problem. A friend says to check the wheel bearing, but this doesn't sound consistent with what I've read online.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Denise
