consuming oil 850 1997

My '97 850 Turbo just consumed about 4 qts of oil in a month or two. It's not throwing blue smoke and there's no oil in the engine. I notice just a few drops of oil under the car but not enough to account for the excessive consumption. Any ideas as to what's happening?
