I got some great advice on what to look for on the 96' 850 turbo that I'm thinking of purchasing, thanks. But one thing that has me really worried now is the AC evaporator.
How do you know when the evaporator may be the source of a refrigerant leak vs. something else in the system? The AC was working on the car, but the compressor cycled on-and-off. It would stay on for 5-10 sec. and cold air would come out of the vent, then it would cycle off for 2-3 sec. and immediately warm air would come out. Seemed like it could use a recharge, but it sounds like the evaporator could be a source of a leak. I assume a good Volvo mechanic could identify this as the source, and I still have yet to take it to one for an inspection. What's a sure sign that the evaporator is bad?
