The problem started last winter - the UP (transmission) arrow would blink when I shifted from P to N or D. Once I pulled "Incorrect gear ratio" form the diagnostic connector. Transmission worked well otherwise.
This winter the problem got worse, the arrow blinking (random, when shifting, not a controlled blinking) became quite bad, and backup light would be turned on intermittently. The rest was still OK. But yesterday, when it was really cold in NYC (10 F), the transmission acted strangly. Often, it would not shift up and get stuck ot a low gear (1st?). Sometimes it would shift harshly. When it warmed up, everything was back to normal.
My questions are: is this a PNP switch or worse? I plan to change it myself (thank you, Bay 13!), but it is too cold now for this job. Will I get stranded one day this winter or it will last till spring? I am sure others went through this.
Thank you!
