Any new consensus on evaporators? 850 1996

Hello,

I apologize for beating this dead horse, but I haven't looked at this forum for a couple of years and I am getting errors when I tried to search the archives over the last 12 hours.

Anyway, I have the following questions about my 96 850 whose evaporator is leaking and whose fate must be decided.

1. Has Volvo improved the reliability of the replacement evaporators at all? There were rumors of modifications when last I paid attention.

2. If I decide not to fix it right now what is the experience with the various leak-stopping formulations?

3. I am considering the 2001 V70 as a replacement. How reliable has this car been?
