850 Crankcase Pressure 850

Ok this is getting rediculous. No one including Volvo seems to know how the crankcase breather system is supposed to work on a '94 850 turbo. I was told that my crankcase pressure was a little to high. Everything appears clear in the breather system. The oil seperator and hoses are fine. The mechanic said there seems to be some sort of valve on the air intake pipe just before the turbo that doesn't seem to be functioning. I removed this valve (electrically operated) and sure enough it doesn't appear to be operating. I took all of the numbers off of this valve and called the local dealer. They have never heard of this valve and the numbers don't register on thier computer. Thier crankcase breather diagram doesn't show any such valve.

I would appreciate any help in identifying this valve. The large diameter plastic pipe from the oil seperator snakes around the rear of the engine and attaches to the top of this valve. On one side of this valve a small vacuum hose
attaches and runs up thru a steel tube sitting on top of the valve cover and then thru another vacuum hose to a vacuum port on the intake manifold. On the other side of this valve is an electrical connection. The bottom of this valve goes thru a rubber grommet and attaches to the large plastic air intake pipe just before the turbo between the airfilter and the turbo intake.

What does this valve do and what is the proper name for it?

Thanks
