Driving home from work last night, I stopped off at a used car dealer who had an 850 in the lot. Got up to it and it has a sticker price of 6500. It has 137000 miles. Got to work today and ran it on NADA (work at the bank) and it says the car should go for 11,000. So I am thinking, as long as it's in decent shape, it's a great deal. Could even afford dumping in a few grand to fix whatever might be wrong with it.
I started it up and it sounds great. Looked under the hood and gave it a once over and doesn't seem to be leaking anything anywhere. Granted, this was a two minute scan, and I need to be a little more thorough if I get serious about it.
Currently, I am driving a '92 940 T, on which I do most of the peripheral work. I leave the engine and timing issues to the mechanic.
I love the fact that I can do this sort of thing with the 940.
As for the 850, I have read many mixed reviews, although 97 seems to be the year recommended. What sorts of things should I be looking for as far as possible trouble spots as I consider this??
What sorts of issues at 137K can I expect to be dealing with on this car??
Any general thoughts??
Thanks,
Sam
