Bypassing the thermal switch

Several posts have mentioned bypassing the thermal switch. If this can be done, could someone explain how to do it. I am quite certain that, that is the problem with my 96 850. I know the freon is at the proper level and the system cuts out after 10-20 mins of driving, then remains off for quite some time before working again.
