CLUTCH V70-XC70 1998

I have 98 V70 T5 with 184,000 KM’s; recently, at the end of a +/-1200km highway trip, while driving home in the city (40km per hour) the clutch lost its compression (the pedal went slack, could not change gears). There were no visible fliud leaks, but the reservoir was low at the MIN level; the system was bled and had the brake fluid topped up. A diagnostic was not performed nor was the transmission disassembled . My car ran fine for another 2-300 KMs when it happened again. So, I am going to run the diagnostic but is there any past history (is this a seal problem, or a slave cylinder problem) or recall news that relates, or is this just what sometimes happens to ’older cars‘? THANKS
