Fumes in cabin -- Turbo flex hose the culprit? V70-XC70 1998

1998 V70 GLT

I recently changed the flex hose between the air cleaner box and the turbo inlet. The new hose seems to connected up correctly at each end with the three small hoses and electrical connection made properly. Since then I've noticed a smell of exhaust fumes in the cabin when stopped (and only when stopped). If I turn the AC to recycle inside air, or if the vehicle is moving, it seems to go away. Well, this seems nuts, given that the hose I changed is on the inlet side of the turbo. I don't _think_ that I fouled anything up when I was in there, but have to wonder if it's more than coincidence.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.
