I am looking at a 93 850 for my daughter to drive back and forth to college. I have found one that is immaculate (128 K) and she loves it, however, the seller says the timing belt broke on it a year ago (just two days after he bought it from a Volvo dealer) and they "rebuild the top half of the engine". I am just skittish about all this talk of rebuilding. The engine compartment is very clean and the car appears to run well except for the A/C blowing hot air. When I asked why he was selling after one year he tells me that he purchased the car following knee surgery and could not drive his BMW due to it being a stick. Does anyone have any input on how the engines do after this has happened ??
