While checking in at the Volvo dealer (see previous post) , my 4 year old, 45 k S80 2000 with all unlocked doors suddenly locked mysteriously, twice. Its remote keys was 10 feet away or on the driver door, eventhough nobody touch the remote. A day later the service manager called to tell me it's normal due to Volvo design of 2 minute delay in automaticly locking the doors. I have tough time accepting that it is normal, because:
1. This car never act like this during 4 years I operate it.
2. This so called automatically locking poses serious safety harzard, for instance if there is a baby in the car, the key and remote inside the car, the mother is outside the car and all doors suddenly lock !!!
3. I only want to own a car that have doors lock when I want them lock.
Please share your opinions and experience.
