hi

my car has started making a weird noise when starting up cold first thing in the morning.

its a '98 s70 t5 and has only done 55,000 miles with full dealer servicing!!

sometimes i get the lifters rattle for a second or two but from what i've been told and read in the manual this is normal!! - i can live with that.

but the other noise which also happens sometimes is more faint and sort of muffled, more of a knocking noise than a rattle!! it only last for a few seconds and only when starting cold.

the car runs fine and i get no noises when restarted after its been drivin.

is the engine *u*ked?? the dealer said don't worry its "normal" but surely it can't be, can it?

any ideas
