Greetings all,
I have the true blue Volvo roof rack and a slim Thule "Frontier" box. I had pretty much had the roofbox on within days of buying the car. When I drove it home from the dealer, about 350 miles, I got 29.5 mpg according to the car (and my subsequent gas slip). Then I put the box on and my mileage dropped to about 22. Of course that was more around town and home from the dealer was all highway. But with our snow rapidly melting away, I took the roof box off before my last fillup and wash and am now seeing local, around town mileage of about 25mpg. I would say to roof box lowers my mileage by 2.5-3 mpg or more, which was more than I expected as streamlined as it is! So those of you with such boxes, might want to take them off when not in regular use. Just an FYI for those interested.
Cheers,
