Roof Rack Options S60 2004

I'd like to get a roof rack for my S60 if and when I purchase it. The dealer claims that after installation of the Volvo Thule rack it is permanently attached as the track cover must be cut to reveal the attachment points. Is this ugly fact true? If so, can anyone recommend an after-market rack that will take Thule accessories (as I have a bunch that fit my current Thule for my Saab) and is removeable. Saab has cute doors that open to reveal the points -- it seems that that is a better solution.
