I've used the Volvo coolant in my RWD 960's. The aluminum block becomes the issue. Use the highest grade of antifreeze you can. The Volvo coolant is formulated with the aluminum blocks in minds. There are commercial brands that can be used but you need to check carefully. Do not buy the cheap Prestone. Some of the other contributers can give you the specific commercial brands and options but I have been able to get mine done reasonably at the dealer and kept the Volvo coolant going.
