Performance Reduced - Is it Safe to Continue Driving? V70-XC70

Yesterday I received the 'performance reduced' message as my car hesitated. I could continue driving without noticing too much performance difference with the car; however message stayed on till I shut off engine and then has not reappeared since. After reading the posts regarding this message and the potential ETM [electronic throttle module] relation, I am made an appt for Thursday with the dealer. My question is. . .is it safe to continue driving the car until then [Thursday] and is there damage I could be doing to the car by continuing to drive it?
