compressor blowoff valve?

I want to know if the 93 model 850 glt has a high pressure blow off valve on the a/c system / compressor. Over the years I have added a can or two over the hot weather season due to compressor cycleing often. This past weekend I did this and all seemed well until the next day when we started her up the a/c hummed and made noise under the hood. when I swiched off a/c no noise. Upon inspection of the engine compartment I discovered the area directly behind the compressor to be wet. Any advice. This is the wifes car and I wish to return the smile on her face. Michael
