V40 00 Air blower problems S40-V40

Hi All,

Looking for advice, have a 00 V40 (US(. I have had a check engine light on for 3 or 4 days, ( car is running fine), but today when I drove it the air blower continously runs at a speed equivalent to position 4 on the blower control. Setting to 0 has no effect on the blower, if the switch is moved to 5 the blower speeds up.
Any ideas on what might be causing the problem or where to start looking, I have the UK Haynes manual but it is for cars without the climate control so a little stumped.
