I returned from a business trip to find that my 95 850 Turbo sedan was totalled while parked on the street. It was hit hard enough in the driver's rear corner to flip the vehicle 180 degrees, up onto the sidewalk and into another car. The driver's rear is now non-existant, the passenger front is completely bent, and all four doors are dented. The passenger front door is severely dented. Like I said, totalled. It was hit at 6:00 am by a black SUV that fled. Neighbors saw it, but nobody was able to get a plate #.
In October I cancelled collision / comprehensive on the car since I figured if anything happened (and I wasn't afraid of theft) the insurance company would low-ball the value and after deductible I would only get a few grand. In retrospect this was obviously a dumb decision.
So the question remains - what do I do with the car? The car is red with a tan leather interior. A tribute to Volvo, once you get in side the car you can't tell anything is wrong. Not a single thing is out of place. The car has 130,000k miles and the motor (turbo) still runs strong. The driver's seat is cracked from age and is worn through in one spot. The power memory passenger seat is in great shape as is the rear seat. Tires are michelin hydroedge with about 2K miles on them. They are on 16" turbo wheels with their share of curb rash. Grill is fine, as is drivers headlight / turn light, and passenger's tail light.
Does anybody have experience with disposing of such cars? I honestly don't have the patience to fully part this out on my own (then what do you do with the body, etc.). Any advice is welcome.
Thanks,
Dave
