Driver seat backrest 850

Greetings,

I have the common problem with the driver's seat backrest cable needing replacement, and have the instructions from Bay 13. My question is whether I can force the seat back up to a normal position and leave it there without replacing the cable.
(no need for this adjustment as I am the only driver). I am thinking that if I go the distance to get to the cable/gearbox, I may as well change the cable, but if it saves a lot of time to simply force the seat back up, I will go that route.
Ant info on this matter would be appreciated.
