So I'm driving down the road and suddenly I hear this noise like I'm dragging something under the car. I didn't hit anything, or anyone, or even notice anything in the road that I could have run over.
Anyway, I pull the car over and underneath the car is wedged this piece of black plastic thing that looks somewhat like the bottom front end of my car. I walk around to the front and sure enough, the piece that is under the front that apparently directs air toward the radiator and shields some of the components in that area has detached itself from the car.....looks to be about 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep.
Dangling on either side of the bumper are what look like two switches. I am assuming that those were attached to the mess that fell off. I am guessing that those are some sort of impact sensor for the air bags. If that's what those are, you would think that Volvo could come up with a better place to put them.
Basically the whole front underside of the car is now exposed including the bottom of the radiator. Plus those switches or sensors now have nowhere to be.
I guess I'll take it to the dealer and see how much over $500 they can charge me to put on a new piece of plastic.
This has been such a great running car. The engine and transmission have been bulletproof. If everything else just didn't break and fall off, I might even consider buying another one.
