heater core 850 1994

My heater core went and the mechanic disconnected it about three weeks ago. He says I should wait until I plan to replace a/c because of the cost involved and the two parts are so close together. Meanwhile, the starter has started acting up. Any possible connections between the lack of a working heater core and thes starter?
