Hello, I have a '93 850 2.0 20v that likes losing water. Basically it spits coolant out the header tank before the fan comes on. At first I thought it may be the Temp. sensor as it did have a cooling problem when I bought it & obviously once these things have been cooked, it's characteristics change & thus the rad. fan would come in late. However, since being told that this sensor would cost £32 + vat, I though I'd better make sure, given that the car is worth about £32. I have now discovered that the fan is supposed to run at 2 speeds but I've only ever heard it run at one, it could still be coming in late so just never reaches the second speed I just don't know. My next move was to test the relay but I couldn't quite work it out, so basically my question is, any ides how to test any of the above. The two control wires to the fan relay (yellow + yellow/white) have a constant 12v feed when doing nothing & obviously the 2 thicker motor wires have nothing at this stage. When the fan kicks in, the yellow/white control wire has no voltage but the yellow one stays at 12v. At this point both motor wires are running 12v, I am confused. By the way there are no fault codes(A6).
