I've been off site for awhile because I've had no weird issues with my 3 850s since poltergeist got into my daughters sunroof. Daughter drives '95 and is in college 100 mi away. Son drives '93 (152K)(It is parked awaiting new T-Belt, tensioner, water pump and general tuneup when I can get a weekend day off from honeydos.) He is currently driving my '96.
The cooling fan on my '96 non-turbo isn't working. (>97K on used engine, switched out last summer/>130K on car) I drove it occasionally just to work and back (a 7 minute trip minimal idling) and never noticed a problem. My 18yo son was driving it when it overheated. I changed thermostat to failsafe type and figured he was good to go. It happened again and after diagnoses I discovered the fan wasn't working.
I tested the fan and both speeds work. I switched the relay with my son's car and then the ECT with his car and it still isn't working. I don't know if his relay and sensor were good. I temperarily hardwired low speed fan to always on w/ ignition so he can drive it. Can anyone advise how to check sensors and relays w/ VOM or DMM or any advise in where to look for opens or shorts? Thanks!
