new OEM rear pads have shim like material around the dog ears. (l shaped shims now?) 850 1995

The new pads at first look like they have built in shims because there is more material around the 2 dog ears vs the original pads.

At first I told the parts guy I'd take new shims but the ones he brough out were in a L-shape. Not rectangular like originals. Since they looked different I told the parts guy I didn't want them. Maybe these new pads require this L - shaped shim. Any ideas. New part box says 30648383.

I also picked up some silicone for $13.
