AC related engine studder 850

I have noticed a very slight studdering effect when my AC is on. When driving at highway speeds, with the AC on, I can just barely feel the sensation as if the engine is under braking, but only for an instant (~1 second) and then it is back to normal. I do NOT see any change in RPM'S (automatic transmission). The effect is very slight, and thought I was imagining it for sometime until I turned off the AC and the studdering went away and then when the AC was put back on the studder came back. It appears that the AC still puts out cool air. This eefct seems to be getting worse with time. Studder happens more often now (Once every ~5 seconds, verse once every ~20 seconds like it was a few months ago). Is this the sign of the first indications that the AC clutch is starting to go? (103,000 miles)

Thanks,

Phil
