Brake Recommendation

When I went to get new tires, the shop said the disks were too thin to "turn" and needed to be replaced, as well as the pads. 5,000 miles later, the dealer said the pads were getting thin, but the front disks didn't need turning. There is a large lip on the outside of both front disks.
I just put PBR pads on and they work much better than the old worn pads. I don't race and usually get 60-80K miles on a set of pads.
