Check Engine Light NEVER flashes when turning on the car 850 1995

Well, come to find out, I had reset the service light, without realizing it, by pushing that rubber grommet earlier today. When I turned on the car about an hour ago, the service light was off. Problem is, now it too doesn't flash on when I initially turn on the car maybe because the grommet is still depressed? I accidently pushed it in past the plastic surface so I guess I have to wait until I change the Check Engine Light bulb to get the grommet from behind the plastic, right? I hope you understood dwhat I meant because I don't really know all of the technical terms as of yet.
