Side impact system 850

The 850s with side air bags have a sensor built into the side seat rail. On the driver side it is near the power seat controls. These air bags are mechanically, not electrically actuated, so removing the battery connection is not protective. There is supposed to be a cover for the sensor which is stowed somewhere in the seat assembly and placed on the sensor to protect it during work. On my car I did not find this so I worked carefully. See a Haynes manual on the 850 for details.
