850 Dash Rattle 850 1996

Picked up a used 850 for my daughter, The dash rattles...I checked the bolts or screws under the windshield. The manchanic at volvo said the dash may be broken where the screws attach, but he didn't say how to fix it or if it can be fixed. Anyone know?
