Cutting the old bushing out is neither awkward nor risky. Took me less than 5 minutes and it was totally obvious when I was at or near the edge of the bushing (it's not metal and cuts very easily). And putting in the two-piece was simplicity itself. After this process, which was mindlessly easy and permanent, I wouldn't consider the original bushing. Besides, the blue polyuerethane looks cool in there...
