need some help...

I just purchased a '98 S70 about a month ago. It's my first Volvo, so I have a few questions:

1. My service light just came on. I've read that you need to go to a dealer to have it turned off - true? I'm only scheduled for an oil change.

2. Which leads me to this question: I have the T5 model. It has had synthetic blend in it (116k miles). Should I stick with this kind of oil? Or can I go to full synthetic? And do I need to change the oil every 5k or 10k?

3. Lastly, how important is it to stay up on the 10k maitenance intervals? I'm recently married so the funds are a bit tight. Dealer or Volvo mechanic? Or can I just skip it?

Much thanks for your help,
Adam
