climate control - or lack there of control S40-V40 2001

Just came back from the dealership this morning and they told me that my climate control unit. which is that whole piece connected to the radio and everything in the front may have to get replaced ( yeah <- sarchasim ) I dont know how to take the front console off so I'll be researching some places where I could get the part and have it professionally installed.
