Air Vent Troubles - Need HELP Please 850 1997

My air vents aren't blowing out air through the selected settings. No matter which setting (on the climate control cluster) i set the air to blow (ie. defrost, floor, etc) it only blows through the 4 vents facing towards me on the dash. i swapped out the climate control box (the thing right above the stereo) and replaced it with one i kew worked. I still have the same problem. my REC and AC lights are still blinking. what is causing this problem and can anyone help me resolve it. it rained all day today and my windshield was foggy the entire time. it really impaired my vision.

Fault Codes pulled by Volvo Scan tool:

2:3:1 - Position sensor for ventilation damper motor: open-circuit or short circuit to supply voltage.
2:3:3 - Position sensor for ventilation damper motor: short circuit to ground.
3:2:5 - Recirculation damper motor active for too long.
5:1:1 - Self-adjustment damper motor limit positions not carried out.

Volvo ran the damper motor recalibration twice and were unable to get it to reset. I really need help folks.

thanks guys.
