Thanks for the reply -- I appreciate it.

Too bad they changed it, though (i.e., not too bad for those who use this new filter, but rather too bad for me). While my strap wrench has been great over the past 30 years for the red block oil filter, my latest cars (two '93 240's) have a heat shield around the exhaust manifold that makes using my strap wrench more difficult. I've always enjoyed being able to handle the filter from above -- with these cars, I need to change the filter from below -- much less convenient.
