1995 850 with both OBDII and black boxes - you were right, MadeInJapan!

It seems my car has both an OBDII port and the little black boxes under the hood. Thanks for the tip, MadeInJapan! One of the websites that advertises PC software for OBDII reports that even thought the port is there, it is not compliant, which raises several questions:

1. Where can I get a complete listing of the black box/led codes, along with instructions on how to retrieve/clear them?

2. Even if not compliant, does anyone know if the OBDII circuit retains any functionality? I would like to hook up realtime to the system to monitor performance, if possible.

3. The website that advertises the software also mentions engine families, as opposed to engine types. I believe the possible engine families for mine would be either RVV2.3VHGFEK if made in 1994, or SVV2.3VJGFEK if made in 1994. The engine type is a B5234T1, according to the VIN and some paperwork that came with the car. Where can I get positive ID on the engine family?

Thanks Again,
Ten Sleep
