.....and........ S80 1999

Right, the cars look good, are very confortable and handle well BUT that's about it.

I've heard many a VCNA employee laugh about what a POS the '99, '00 S80s were.

If you're stuck with that car and can't bail out/run way ....DO check the oil at every tank fill up too as I'll be that both breather box seals and turbo drain tube o-rings leak oil (costly repairs).
If the engine has ANY lifter or knocking noises, do NOT drive it 1000 miles as the oil pan/oil sump o-rings are NG (requiring a reseal job ASAP!) and low oil pressure can/will cause complete engine destruction. Those engines don't like low oil pressure or poor maintenance (lack of oil changes, like if it was a leased car....highly likely too).
Odds are good that the front suspension clucks and if so, do have it checked BEFORE driving the car that far. Could be bad ball joints, upper strut mounts, sway bar links, ALL very common.
Could go on BUT one note for sure here, DO have that car safety inspected at a Volvo dealer or an independant that has actual S80 experience (rare in my area).
Do have AAA for emergency break downs. There's nothing less fun than being stranded on the side of the road.
