Blower motor problem? '93 850GLT

I would start by reading the codes for the climate control system, and ascertaining what the car thinks is the problem. The '93 is a stand alone 850 with many quirks that were ironed out in '94, and then more in '95, and then practically gremlin free in '96. Items that come to mind are the ECC controller, the ECC power stage, and the blower motor, but with the blower motor working when you don't ask it to, really points more towards the controller. Get a used one from a newer ECC system, purchase the wiring harness needed to convert the car to the newer style, and then it should be much smoother sailing.
