855 tranny lockup 850 1994

Hi,
I have a -94 855 turbo with a tranny lock-up problem. Most of the time no lock-up, but sometimes you get it locked (notice it by the increased torque and increased mpg). I suspect that there is just a bad connection in the connector in the solenoid wire in the black solenoid box (possibly battery acid entered there). But does the box contain transmission fluid or is it empty (I would assume the latter)? My plan would be to drill a small hole and spray contact spray inside the box if there is no oil in it.

Any pointers to other possible problems for no lock-up are welcom, please.
