Blower motor,and A/C not working S40-V40 1999

Driving along with A/C on and blower on setting 4, everything working fine. Suddenly blower motor cuts out and green light goes out on A/C button. Couldn't get blower to run on any setting.(NB this is normal A/C not ECC) On reaching home I checked all the fuses but they are all ok. Further checks revealed, as expected, that the clutch isn't cycling on the A/C compressor and also that, unexpectedly, the hazard warning lights don't work. Everything else works normally, even the direction indicators. Tried working my way through the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual but unfortunately it gives no details of the A/C wiring. I can't understand how the 3 problems are connected, yes maybe the A/C and the blower motor may be linked in some way but I have no way of telling. Can anyone help with this one before I start pulling things apart or having to rely on my Volvo dealership.
