Glove Box Jammed 850

1996 850GLT Sedan

This may be a unique posting... My glove box won't open. I'm not positive, but I don't believe that anything within the glove box is jamming the mechanism. I think that something is worn or broken between the glove box door handle and the latching mechanism that is keeping it from releasing. (And, no, it's not locked.)

Any suggestions as to what method I can use to "jimmy" it open? Or, is there anything I can take apart to get access into it?

I've stuck a large screwdriver down into it with no luck. Short of just busting the door open, I don't see how to get it open.

Anyone have any creative ideas?
