850 won't start 850

' Just got a '97 850 turbo yesterday. I went out this morning, changed the oil and parked the car on the street. I went back an hour later and it wouldn't start. There's a fuel smell near the engine after I crank it over. The car turns over fine, but just won't start. On my 960, I always used M1 synthetic because I was afraid of the valves sticking open. Could that be what is happening here? I used Rotella oil in the 850 today.
