V70 Auto transmission question software upgrade???? V70-XC70 2001

Fellow bricksters,

I posted this qeustion a month or so back, anyway I have 2001 V70 (non turbo) with aprox 30K miles. At rest it definelty disengages out of first gear to neutral when I have the foot brake on. And when I go to accelerate away it engages. My previous replies reported a software upgrade to someone telling that my transmission is about to go toes up and die.

I believe (hopefully) that it is the former, because I decided to experiment and stopped the car with the handbrake and would you believe no issues stayed in gear the whole time, and as soon as I touched the brake you could feel the mild feel of it going out of gear.

Therefore I tend to think that it is the electronics, one of the previous replies mentioned that volvo bought out in the 2001 year run the transmission to do exactly this and there is a software upgrade for this. Has anyone heard of this. Apart from the feeling at rest the auto is absolutley rock solid so I would love to hear anyones opinion.

Regards Jason Ball
