V70 XC V70-XC70

Hi all,

I was a 240 wagon owner for a while.
Now I have a chance to purchase an '00 V70XC with a quirk........

Car was run low of oil. Now runs but smokes. $4500obo

My thoughts are:
So, could be rings and cylinder walls +/-$3500
Or, could it be the turbo ran dry, blew it's seals, now with oil it is puking it into the exhaust. +/-$500

I know the way to test it, pull turbo from exhaust manifold. Wet=rings, dry=turbo.

Anyone have ideas on this??
Would the turbo run dry before the cylinder wall and rings scored?
% chance it is one or the other?
Easy things to check to see if small or big fix?

thx
