Remote Lock Fob & Antenna 850 1994

It has happened to me twice, in two years, on very cold winter mornings at about 8:00 Am. Wagon was parked outside. Pressed remote to open the car and no response, even very near to the alarm unit. Opened the car with key, alarm triggered, starter didn't work and i couldn't turn the alarm unit off with the small key. Closed the car and left with the alanm sounding. At about 13:00 pm retuned to the vehicle, pressed the remote and "voilá", was working normally as if nothing had happened before.
I think it has something to do with the receiver unit being frequency controlled by a cristal oscillator, and with the cold, these components deviate from it's normal frequency and therefore do not receive at all.
I've not oppened the unit to check my thougt, but would be interested in hearing other opinion.

Best regards
