Location of OIl Filter V70-XC70 2005

On '04's like we have and '05's there is a plastic splash gaurd that has to come off from the front of the car with several screws to get to the oil filter...not anything difficult, just a hassle. BTW, he's asking because for model year '05 Volvo's the deal quit giving the free oil changes. The free service was included in our '04, but not on '05's and beyond. Good luck with your oil change. I would recommend MANN filters (they make Volvo's filter) and an aluminum crush washer for your oil pan nut. Whatever you do, don't buy the copper ones, they will ruin your threads. Also, you'll need a filter wrench. I found all of these at a reasonable price from www.fcpgroton.com and buy a case at a time of the filters. Also, I would recommend you switch to a good synthetic motor oil as soon as you can (Mobil-1) and change your oil every 5000 miles and not the recommended 7500 miles, especially if you have a turbo. For weight of oil, follow the advice of your owner's manual. Good luck!
