Depends on driving styles

That is an interesting point. After reading advice here on what to look for, I remember breathing a sigh of relief when I sniffed and looked at mine the first time(after buying the car at 140K mi), and it appeared light red in color. Looking back, it may have been the bright yellow stick showing through brown fluid that appeared to be red. It was dark brown when I flushed it. Maybe it can get really dark or opaque?
