Oil dipstick replacement 850 1994

I went through this issue for my 1993 GLT model (see the related threads on VolvoClub UK.) The dipstick the Volvo shop sold me had the same part number as the original but was 5-6 mm longer !.

The Volvo garage promised me to ask the factory about this fact. I never got any response. Another Volvo people told me that Volvo may hav changed its standards and that it is without importance : if the engine starts to be out of oil, then the pressure drops and the light goes on ..

To get out of the issue with peace in mind, I deeped and glued the dipstick 5 mm further into the handle. 10000km later it still holds.
